(April 8, 2013)

On April 5, Bill Yuan, Chairman of Fortress Holdings Group, gave a presentation at the UCR School of Business Administration on "Next Generation Cross-Border Collaboration Between Asia and the World."

For his presentation, which was part of the Dean's Speaker Series, Yuan covered similarities between manufacturing, consumer brands and film in terms of development, process, production and distribution; China, Japan and Korea as the three largest box office territories in Aisa; and film rights as a preferred stock investment asset class.

In addition to being the Chairman of Fortress Holdings Group, Yuan is also Chairman of Auga Group, as well as its subsidiary, Guangzhou Kingstar Culture Media Investment Co., Ltd. Throughout his finance career, he has worked at Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Merrill Lynch, and AmerAsia Hedge Fund. After attaining over 20 years of experience on Wall Street in all aspects of finance including sell side, capital markets, buy side, venture/private equity, and buy-outs, Mr. Yuan has amassed excellent relations with institutional, venture capital, global private equity, and hedge funds. His current focus is on Media/Entertainment/Sports (MES). Yuan also has relationships with the top tier investment, private equity firms, and hedge funds in Asia.

Henry Huang, president of the UCR Graduate Student Association, said, "On behalf of UCR students, I’d like to say that it was a real pleasure to welcome Mr. Yuan to our campus, and we very much look forward to having him back in the near future to build upon this mutually beneficial relationship. His presentation was very eye-opening to present and emerging opportunities across international growth markets and, from my perspective, provided the students with valuable insight as to the many ways to best position yourself for success as a young professional in a global economic workplace.”

The next Dean's Speaker Series event will be on April 26, 10:30 a.m. at HUB 302. Vonda Simon, founder & CEO of SeaCliff Beauty Packaging & Laboratories, will be the distinguished guest speaker. The event is free and open to the public.
