UCR students spent spring break at Oxford University for a leadership program.

(April 9, 2013)

During spring break 2013 (March 24-30, 2013), 33 students from the UCR School of Business Administration, as well as other majors across campus, participated in the "Oxford Young Entrepreneurial Leadership Program" held at Mansfield College, University of Oxford. Students earned a certificate from Mansfield, networked with scholars and practitioners and strengthened their global mindset, which program director Dr. Sean Jasso called "an imperative for tomorrow's leader."

Students lived in residence at Mansfield College, dined in the cathedral hall and heard customized lectures ranging in topics from strategy innovation, entrepreneurship and the start-up company, entrepreneurial leadership, and globalization. The UCR team also visited manufacturing, cultural and corporate sites including Prodrive, Blenheim Palace and Bloomberg in London. Lecturers included faculty from Oxford's Saïd Business School, Cranfield School of Management, University College London and Oxford's technology transfer division.

Enrollment for Oxford 2014 will begin in Fall 2013 and students are encouraged to learn more about the program from Dr. Jasso.

The mission of the UCR SoBA Global Programs is to help the UCR student of any major to globalize his or her résumé. Target countries include the major emerging markets known as the BRIC nations (Brazil, Russia, India and China), and the Oxford program connects students to the European Union as well as the world's oldest English-speaking and prestigious universities. An esteemed university serves as the host for all lectures and the residential experience while visiting the nation.

Enrollment information for Brazil's Sao Paulo trip during the June break (June 15-22) before the first summer session will be sent to the campus community early next week. Financial aid is available and deadlines are critical.

For further information about all of SoBA's Global Programs please contact Dr. Jasso at or stop by his office at Olmsted Hall 2333.
