Pucci Foods owner and CEO Chris Lam establishes $25,000 endowment for business student scholarships.

(October 24, 2013)

Chris LamBusiness alumnus Chris Lam has agreed to give the UCR School of Business Administration $25,000 for student scholarships.

The $25,000 endowment was established in honor of Lam's father, Y. Van Lam. The scholarships will be used to recruit and retain business students who demonstrate excellence in scholarly work, leadership and a commitment to civic duty and cultural understanding.

“I created this endowment to give back to the community and institution which positively influenced my career and life,” said Lam.

Lam is the owner and CEO of the privately held company, Pucci Foods, which is based in the San Francisco Bay area. The first person in his family to receive a college education, Lam earned bachelor's degrees in business administration and economics from UCR in 1991.

Interim Dean Yunzeng Wang said, “Chris Lam’s success story has been one of our points of pride at the UCR business school. He is a successful business leader and alumnus who has given so much back to his school through the years. We are truly grateful to him for this generous scholarship, which will foster future leaders following in his footsteps.”

In early October, UCR's new chancellor, Dr. Kim A. Wilcox, visited Lam in San Francisco, to thank the alumnus for his ongoing support.

Lam has had continuing involvement with the business school through the years, having supported and mentored the UCR teams that have competed at the International Collegiate Business Competition (ICBSC). He has also served as keynote speaker for the UCR business school's 2011 commencement.
